Domestic Violence

What is Domestic Violence

In almost every country around the world women and children are beaten.  Violence against women and children is not a family problem, nor an individual’s problem.  It’s a social problem.  Violence is a learned behavior taught to us when we are young.  The culture of accepting violence as part of daily life needs to STOP.  In NZ it is against the law to smack a child and commit domestic/family violence.  Violence is a control mechanism used to gain power over and control another human being against their will.
Family violence is an issue that affects all New Zealanders.  It happens in all communities. You can make a difference by taking positive action.  Change is possible but it takes courage, motivation and determination.

FATIMAH supports the FVIARS model (Family Violence Inter-Agency Response System) working with NZ Police, CYFS, Family Safety Team with support to women and children experiencing violence and crisis.

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.  ~Mahatma Ghandi
