Building Stronger Families

To strengthen the sacred institution of the family through education and social responsibilities. Create awareness in the community and inspire change.

Our vision is to provide a one stop service. One centre, that caters to all the above needs that strengthen families and family ties. This includes Counselling and advisory services, recreational facilities, A Crèche, Whanau rooms, conference rooms, a safe house and a warehouse for food storage. Our goal is to facilitate all these services within one building, under the Fatimah foundation banner.

Fatimah Foundation plays a leadership role in advocating at all levels of government, and with the private sector and the public at large for full inclusion and participation in the community. The Fatimah Foundation encourages and supports individuals and families affected by violence in pursuing this advocacy agenda.

Fatimah Foundation was established out of a pressing need to provide a wrap around support service to marginalized communities – South East Asian (SEA), Middle Eastern, Latin American, African (MELAA), Pacific (PI), and Islamic communities, in the Counties Manukau District Area but not exclusive to.

Our Record

As a new organization established to support marginalized communities with high needs and high risks we work collaboratively with other organizations including New Zealand Police, Family Safety Team, SAVPN, etc.

The Fatimah Foundation uses a strength-based and holistic.women and children who are socially and economically disadvantaged, comes a pressing need to address the rise of family violence and crisis. The Fatimah Foundation uses a strength-based and holistic.  was founded by two highly motivated women – Samoan and Maori (Ngati-Porou). The foundation was established based on an existing need by South East Asian community, Pacific community and Middle Eastern and African community, and wider Muslim community, struggling and experiencing violence and crisis.

The founders have a combined total of over 20 years experience working in Muslim Multi-ethnic communities. Assisting approach to work with families, young people, older people, women and children and their families at risk, affect social change and promote self determination. The Foundation supports the FVIARS model (Family Violence Inter-Agency Response System) working with NZ Police, CYFS, WINZ, Family Safety Team with support to women and children experiencing violence and crisis. We provide effective advocacy, facilitation, and education, to empower marginalised families with positive and pro-active interventions that continue to work towards and support systemic social changes in South East Asian, Middle Eastern, African (MELAA) and Pacific families. 

Our service provision is open to all who are disadvantaged and we have a special focus on Muslim families, victims, and perpetrators.  Supporting families to understand the New Zealand Law and systems, living in the New Zealand context, with supporting migrant, refugee and NZ families with good integration in Aotearoa.This project targets but not exclusive to -South East Asian ethnic group, Middle Eastern, Latin American, African (MELAA) ethnic group and Pacific Island group.This project targets Muslim families but not exclusive to.The Muslim community – comprising of Multi-Ethnic groups in Counties Manukau and share a set of values. 

Understanding these values and cultural diversities as well as being part of this community, The Fatimah Foundation works with Muslim victims and perpetrators of violence and abuse of cultural diversity.The South East Asian community comprise of 5 ethnic groups. This community groups with various values in belief. However, The Fatimah Foundation is able to work well with this community due to cultural experience and understanding and language and expression.
